I am an irish mathematics teacher and amateur travel photographer, currently living in Bangkok, Thailand after 3.5 years living on the Isle of Man. I am into a wide range of music, from chillout tribal and electronica to blast beat hardcore and metal, and I have played in a number of different hardcore, metal and industrial bands. I am intrigued how different passions and intricate sonic vistas can be evoked or simulated through music. Aside from music, my main passions are travel, photography and, funnily enough, travel photography! I have a website, www.johnnylawlor.com which currently showcases, among other images, pictures i have taken from 50+ countries. It is a perpetual work in progress which I am beginning to doubt will ever be complete. My favourite places include Cappadocia (Turkey), Plitvice (Croatia), Palmyra (Syria), and Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia). I am moved by the beauty of the world and unbridled human potential, both physical and spiritual, but bemused and disturbed by the blatant flaws of the human condition as expressed all around us politically, culturally and socially. Though i am not religious i have faith. I like to keep in mind the saying 'how do you make god laugh? Tell him you have plans!' I am therefore not above self-perpetuating contradiction as I am somewhat of a compulsive planner! Keep things interesting, expect the unexpected, avail of every opportunity to express your creativity, don't look too far for hidden truths, don't trade syncronicities for comfort.
Haha, Johnny Boy you did masks and dreads before Slipknopt were around! I remember a certain gig in The Wolf Tavern(was it?Up in Cork) when I see you go crazy...ah the good old times, huh? Yeah, we're hoping to be in Berlin around Christmas, damn it would be so great to meet you there, have a few drinks and meet your missus, too! Us Berlin chicks rock! Maybe Ireland for a weekend, but not sure about that one to be honest, and it would not be The Rebel Republic but Wicklow or Dublin...bah! What's happening with you?
I know, right? She's such an alert little bundle...full of giggles and such a friggin' slobbermouth, too! How are ya doing gorgeous? I am missing your dreads...my man had dreads past his bum, too, shaved 'em off in 2007. When will ya ship homewards for a quick family visit? Might be in Wicklow for a few days in december, if Pope can't make it to Berlin or Dublin.
Oi oi there Mr. Lawler! What up with yourself and the missus? Which part of the world will you be in when reading this, hum?
Not sure when we talked the last time, but my baby girl made it into this world with no complications and is blessing my hubby Frogga and me with heaps of sleep during the night, and I'm not even joking! 6-9 hours a night, no waking up! Ha!
Sydney winter has been mild enough the last week or two.
Haha,...yeah. It is weird sometimes to notice myself chatting away with people half my age, but only realizing after. I still feel like I did 10 years ago somehow, guess that'll change soon huh? 2 1/2 weeks until my due date and daughter-to-be decided to drop another distance last night, kicking in squirming in the process. So I have decided to pack my hospital bag this weekend, just in case and the in- laws told me quite firmly that I am not allowed to take the bus to the hospital when in labour, haha. They just know me too damn well! As long as water ain't broke and I can manage to waddle to bus stop, I can damn well take that 10 minute bus drive to the hospital seen that we don't have a car at the moment. But no, was told that I have to ring them or ambulance...baaahhh...no fun them people!
Hope you had a good weekend my dear! Where are you these days anyhow?
