Bio
Johnny Law and the boys' ever evolving style encompasses the great sounds of the 1950's with styles such as rockabilly, country and rock and roll with a distinct Mexican influence. Johnny hails originally from Perth, Western Australia, but has toured extensively and has become an eternal traveller, constantly developing and absorbing influences and inspiration from the global music community. As a result Johnny's style has matured over the years, and his new album features retro stylings shaken up like a dirty martini – with an eclectic and unbounded vibe. "They had a very raw, real, traditional rockabilly sound. To me, they have a mix between Johnny Carroll, The Johnny Burnette Trio, and early Elvis Sun Records stuff and throw in a bit of a modern sound as well." Jay from the Opening Set (www.theopeningset.com/featured-artist/johnny-law/) Johnny has worked with a range of talented musicians from around the globe to record a new original album, his fourth release over the past seven years. This new project was launched in Perth in April 2012, and features The Pistol Packin' Daddies, as well as some talented US musicians. This new release will add to the band's considerable discography which includes Doggin' It Home, Crazy Love and I'll Get It Right. You can find these past releases online. The Pistol Packin' Daddies line–up includes Jon Matthews on lead guitar, Neil Bushby on Upright Bass, Matthew Hanson on Drums and Johnny Law himself on vocals and rhythm guitar. Johnny and the band have played at many major International and National Festivals over the past seven years, seducing audiences across the globe. Their impressive inventory of festival appearances includes Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival, Las Vegas, Nevada; High Rockabilly Festival, Callafel, Spain; Rockabilly Day Festival, Antwerp, Belgium; Greazefest Rockabilly Festival, Brisbane, Queensland; Wintersun Rock and Roll Festival, Gold Coast, Queensland; and Cruise Inn, Amsterdam. He has also toured Europe and the US in both 2006 and 2009. -
