Predominantly (amazingly) like Himself (that's not a band or something...its his actual individual "self")...and a bit like: Kurt Cobain at times, Jack Johnson at other times, Eddie Vedder when I'm not trying to imitate Jack J. or Kurt C....I also do a pretty good Johnny Cash.
JOHNNY OBERLY - singer/songwriter/flautist/storyteller/and artist...Playing guitar, songwriting and artwork is my primary mode of self-expression... I've relocated to Colorado...so I'll be seeing what I can get going here in next year or two. ...In the beginning of 2006 I was playing at various venues downtown with an alternative rock band called the "NUCLEAR GRIZZLIES," but I moved on to a couple of other projects in Tucson... In 2007 Tucson I played with a Heavy Metal Band called "Out From Shadows," we had a pretty cool-dark sound...Metallica/Pantera/Slipknot sounding... Personally, I have been heavily influenced by a lot of great acoustic musicians I've seen play live over the years, like: Bill Miller, James Taylor, Jack Johnson, Keb Mo, Alice In Chains, Neil Young...and several others...and these influences come through in my solo acoustic shows. I'm also basically a 90's guy, and I was really into "Grunge" music...sported flannel shirts and so on... and when the volume is pumped up a little and distortion is turned on, the grunge comes out in me... ( or Send me a message if you want one). These are all original flute songs that I've composed with some acoustic guitar/handdrums/rattles/keyboard accompanyment...There are 16 SONGS on the CD; which includes 12 flute songs and 4 songs on my acoustic guitar.
...One of my goals is to be able to play music for people and inspire them to live life in a good way...and basically contribute to a better world! Ultimately if I could make a living playing and writing music full-time...I'd be a happy camper! Maybe someday...for now I'll keep on doing what I'm doing...and I hope people will be inspired by my playing and singing...Come check out one of my solo acoustic or Native American flute shows...
