Johnny was born and raised in the New York area. At an early age, he was introduced to the world of music through his parents and was exposed to a potpourri of rhythms which covered a range of influences from romantic Spanish boleros, to the wild rock music of KISS and all genres in between. Johnny later attended college where he studied music engineering and then received hands-on experience at The Institute of Audio Research (NYC). In 1992, while working at the studio, he came across a once in a lifetime opportunity to audition for the first Bilingual Merengue-Hip Hop musical group that would end up taking the Latino market by storm...Proyecto-Uno (Project One). This multi-platinum recording group reached world wide fame quickly and Johnny got the opportunity to work with well known producers and musicians such as Jelly-Bean Benitez (Madonna's Producer), Tito Puente and Reel to Real to name a few. Johnny is still an active member of the group and has received multiple awards as well as Gold and Platinum records throughout the world. He has toured with Proyecto Uno throughout the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia and has performed on major TV networks such as MTV, Univision, Telemundo, NBC, etc. Johnny still tours with Proyecto Uno and they are currently working on their 7th CD. Johnny's voice characterizations and sense of humor make him a favorite with TV and radio interviewers everywhere. He has also worked on print, radio and TV ads with such prestigious companies as FUBU and Bud Light and has been featured in a a film by Spike Lee that is soon to be released. Johnny brought his likeable energy to television as host of Urban Latino. Loyal fans of Johnny tuned in and no doubt a whole new group of fans had evolved.
