Hi!

I am so delighted to have finally joined the myspace community.

When I started this journey of restoring my father's music, I had no idea where the road would take me. It turns out there are a whole lot of wonderful folks out there who still remember and have absolutely cherished the restored music. It has been a greater pleasure than I could have ever imagined. I thank each and every one of you for buying CDs. Thank you for your stories and memories. And I thank you for loving the music.

!!!!!!!!! I Found A Dream is now back in print. !!!!!!!!

John Vandiver was a Texas folk blues musician. He was born in Dallas, Tx on August 5, 1945. John started his musical career while attending Sunset High School in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of south Dallas. Cutting his teeth in coffee houses like the Rubaiyat.

In 1967 he left for a two week gig in Coconut Grove (Miami) and stayed for 4 years. While there he joined a group called The Ewing Street Times. In 1971 the band moved to Kansas City, where they met a promising young songwriter named Shake Russell. Shake was soon asked to join the band. While the band was enjoying some success in the midwest, rumors of the cosmic cowboy/Armadillo scene were beginning to spread. So the band packed it up and headed for central Texas, where the band enjoyed some more success.

The band eventually split and after some time John and Shake ended up in Houston. John continued to be a solo act , teaming up occasionally with Shake and others for special performances. During this time John also managed to be a featured performer at every Kerrville Folk Festival from 1973 to 1984.

On February 22, 1985, John and his girlfriend, Debbie Davis, were killed in their home. It will forever be a tragic loss to the Texas music community and beyond...

Jojo,
I am putting up pictures of John's alter which I did for the Ice House Cultural Center Dia de los Muertos. I hope you liked the work. I will put ordering information on the photo. Also, here is a bit of musical history.
This is a photo of a band I was in when I was around twenty-two. The blonde, Paisley, would later become my wife. That didn't last very long. But we are still very good friends. The black haired guy on the bottom right of the hill on the log would later play organ for Steve Miller on most of his greatest hits. His name is Dickie Thompson. Don't know where he is now.
Abrazos y besos,
Billy Bucher

Wow, John used to say, ladies don't let you boys grow up to be cowboys, even if they live in Iowa. This was a prize winner. Well, I did get second place but was beat out by TWIN GIRLS. I won in my heart and it wasn't fair and my mom always back me up on that!!!!
