Johnny Y was born on July 24th, 1981 in Livonia, Michigan USA. His passion for Electronic Dance Music began in the late 90's when he was sucked in to the Detroit underground rave scene. It wasn't until years later that he started to experiment with producing his own music, but strictly as a hobby. Johnny was a drummer for 7 years and had performed in several bands of various genres throughout High School and the following years. After graduating in 1999, he left his last band, and started an acting career which led him out to the West Coast. In August of 2003, Johnny moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career which he still continues to do. It wasn't until a few years ago, that his love for Electronic Dance Music found it's way back to him, which was sparked by seeing live performances and stumbling upon the music of Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, and John Digweed. It was shortly after this, that Johnny realized what he truly wanted to do.
Johnny fell back into producing music in 2006 and shortly after establishing himself as a very serious producer, the blessing of remix offers started to pile themselves in. His music and Guest DJ mixes have been played on Global podcast's and Radio shows. He is always developing new sounds and continues to grow every day as a DJ/Producer/Remixer.
It's been some time since I bumped into you at the Green Door out in Hollywood, but wanted to drop over to give a shout. Just got my hands on a promo from Sectr24 and am really digging your remix. Great work. Love the vocal cuts and the total vibe of the tune. Like you were saying to me earlier, your sound def has legs for enhanced/anjunadeep releases. Great stuff, mate.
