The Perpetually Confused John P Barton
Discography
Howdy ho boys and girls!
And now for the obligatory third-person bio written in such a manner
as to attempt to deceive the reader into thinking I am big time enough
to have a publicist come up with this crap for me:
John is an independent singer/songwriter with a wide array of influences that serve to shape his music. His knack for melody, hooks, and lyrical depth pay homage to a childhood spent continuously exploring the works of The Beatles, Cheap Trick, Pink Floyd, Queen, and so many others. In fact, he learned the drums with AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell” album and used his many other musical inspirations to teach himself to play the guitar and sing as well.
His music showcases a relaxed and seasoned performing style, catchy
melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and often lush vocal arrangements.
The new release , "Love,
etc...", is the polar opposite of his first offering. Where "Does
Not Play Well With Others" tended to examine the darker side of
interpersonal relationships, and how and why they fail, "Love, etc.."
is genuinely the other side of the coin. Throughout the 18 songs offered in this
collection, John searches for what it means to make relationships work, the
true nature of commitment, rocky roads, roses, and mostly for "Love,
etc..."
A native of Maryland with a dry wit, he developed his talents while working with numerous local bands and studio
projects, easily filling the roles of both bassist and vocalist.
Currently John performs
solo, and also plays bass with The
Brothers of Other Mothers, while continuing
to write and record new material.
John resides in Houston, Texas
...and thus ends the BS. Hi... My name is John, and
I like to make music. ("Hi, John") I spent a lot of time on
"Love, etc..." and hope that you enjoy what I have to offer. In fact
I hope you enjoy it enough to buy many, many copies of this thing and give them
out as presents to all your friends! ;)
I'd really like to thank Wayne Lacey for doing an
excellent job on drums and percussion on several of these tracks, and also to
his lovely wife Joanna for opening their home to me while we recorded Wayne's
parts. Thanks also to Giovanni Sylva for laying down some killer drums on several of
the other tracks, and to Scott for letting us use his warehouse to record those
tracks. More thanks to Rusty Winz for the great harmonica part he did on
"Right Now." And finally, thanks to Kristina Sullivan for offering
her harmonies on "There Is You."
-John

This is me trying to look thoughtful, contemplative,
introspective, and maybe even prophetic.
Yeah... good luck with that. ;)
