I played banjo and mandolin with various bluegrass bands in the 70's and early 80's. I took some mandolin lessons with Jethro Burns in 1983 and it turned my musical life around. Shortly afterwards, I moved to Seattle and started concentrating on swing and jazz. I played electric mandolin with the Swingin' Swamis from 1985 til '91. Other Seattle bands I played in during my Seattle years included The Rhythm bandits, The Bluebillies, Jean Jacquet and the Men In Denim, It's Harveytime!, and some other who's names escape me now. I played mandolin with the wonderful jazz singer Donna Smith during 1995-97, and now that she lives in Missoula, I get to play with her again. I moved to Missoula in 1997, and have been playing with Cash For Junkers since 1998, except for my three year "vacation" in North Carolina(2006-2008), where I really didn't play much at all. Now, back in Missoula, I lost the mandolin chair in C4J to Nate Beihl, but am more than happy to play guitar and lap steel. I'm always looking for interesting musicians to play with, so get in touch!
