I was born, raised and went to college in Austin, TX., where I still live. When I attended UT I was a DJ at KVRX (91.7 fm) for over 4 years, 1997-2001, the last two of which I did my Funk specialty show, JJ's Goodtimes, with John D. We played funky music - funky soul, funky jazz, and a little hip-hop. I developed the knowledge to begin making beats then, when I worked in the production department at KVRX and was the production manager for a few semesters, using the nice pro-tools studio to do basic recordings of PSAs and underwriting.
I didn't really start making my own music until 2001, a year after I graduated. It's been a hobby of mine that I've started getting more and more serious about since that time.
Everything in my music is sampled from records that I find. This isn't a strict philosophy or anything, just the way I do things right now; it may change in the future. I've always enjoyed cut and paste style when it's done well. I try to make my own compositions with these samples and structure songs, not just beats. I hope you like what you hear.
If you would like an e-invite to our cd release party at Stubbs please send us your e-mail! Your printed invite will get you 2 dollars of a 5 dollar E.P. as well as enter you in a raffle to win cds and t-shirts. Don't worry, it will just be the one e-mail, we won't continually harrass you. Thanks!
Hello ,
I"ve got 5 songs on my profile now!
New music coming soon.
(9 collaborations in the works!)
New artwork coming soon.
Canvasses and pencil drawings.
Hope your well, and enjoying your day, gotta get back on it.
Let me know how your doing.
(by the way this comment was added using one of those friend commenter things to give it its technical name, so in truth I"m not actually directly asking you how you are rather sending out a bogus pretence to all my myspace friends, thought i"d be honest about it, what a bastard!) I"m off to watch Russell Brand tonight, 15 to listen to him talk about his ballbags for 2 hours, phew! I"ll let you know, what I thought of it).
keep smiling
Joss
Good to see that you are still out there, John...and way to make a kid...it's always good to find out that the pipes are working, huh?...your music has been keeping my feet tapping here in the office today, so thanks and keep pumping it out...
