Tortured at youth by a father’s incessant vocal pitch, john smthg (something) develops an ear outside the home. From his tape playing days up to the electronic scene, John’s attraction to music, sounds and their modifications make of this tortured soul a self-taught composer, technician, and sound arranger today.
Initiated by the Heretik with celebrated DJs Nout and Jano, john begins his journey through the going French underground of the early nineties. Free to commune and create, john shares turntables with Xi and Jeff from the Spiral Tribe, covers such festivals as the Sao Tan.
Later to cover numerous festivals abroad and underground events, with the Specimen Sound System, speeding right into the Twenty First century...
John’s underground sound is brilliantly minimal yet runs with captions of techno might, techno light, and Rhythm&Soultech-enduced highs...

Martyrisé par les cordes vocales de son père, john smthg (« something ») se fait rapidement l’oreille. Il sait, du moins, ce qu’il ne veut pas entendre. Très tôt il se découvre une attirance très particulière pour les nouveaux sons et les matières sonores. En autodidacte, il improvise, avec son voisin de palier, des mix-tapes et quelques autres délirants remix avec des magnétos à bandes.
Au milieu des années 90, initié à la scène free tekno par son entourage, john découvre les sound-systems et la scène electro alternative européenne. La liberté, la non-soumission et l’union des forces tracent la voie de john, qui fait ses débuts sur la scène underground, aux cotés d'Xi et Jeff, des « Spiral Tribe », au festival de SaoTan. De Paris à Nouméa, du sud ouest de la France à la Bretagne, en passant par le Portugal, il enchaîne les festivals et les lieux undergrounds avec les « specimen ».
Aujourd'hui, directement influencé par cet esprit underground, john distille une techno minimale, colorée, excitante et captivante...
Adepte des machines et du son autant que des platines, john, compositeur, bidouilleur, arrangeur, remixeur, réalise et produit pour de nombreux artistes, comme les Pnkllrs (Painkillers), Speek, Jsm vs Jrb, Hans Etwas, Amaranta...
