About me:
I had this crazy idea to contact 50 poets who post on Myspace and ask them each to select one poem, by themselves or by someone else, that they love. I also asked them to write a little bit about why the poem is special to them. The idea is them to use this profile as a Myspace e-book. It will just have the 50 blogs. They will be here for you to come back to whenever you want. If this works and that has yet to be seen, then I will encourage Myspace to sponsor the publication of this as a book with all profits to charity. I love Myspace. I love the rich diversity of poetry published here. I love the fact that it is ordinary people who are just starting to write mixing with experienced poets who have been published in print. I love that more poetry is read here than is sold in all the dusty bookshops in the UK each day. I believe something special is happening and I want to do something to help draw some of the threads together. Si

Hi. I've now completed the third part of my “Super Glue for the Broken Hearted” trilogy so here it is and I hope you can take something from it! Parts 1 and 2 (“She Breathes” and “She Frees”) are on my blog and if I've known you a while they may be on your comments page from last year too.

Many thanks for the friendship and support and have a great day! ~ Si =)

HE BLEEDS

Love is like no-one else you ever met.
His face obscured like a diamond of light behind white shadows.
You laugh and sob in his presence, unable to comprehend his majestic beauty.
He takes your hand and leads you through worlds of immeasurable splendour, devastating loss, ravishing beauty and unspeakable pain.
When darkness surrounds, you lose all sight of him and scream out in terror like a child rejected by it's parent.
But in time you realise that he has let go of your hand because he now carries you in his arms.

He stands in the gap between you and everything that would harm you.
He negotiates for you, he fights on your behalf.
He absorbs all pain, darkness, heartache, fear, loss, grief, sadness, evil, torture and death.

He roars like a lion and bleats like a lamb.
He lives in serenity, creates courage and is the foundation of all wisdom.

He is the starving child in Africa, the destroyed family of Iraq. He is the bedraggled alcoholic on the street corner. He is the married executive on his way to the whore house. The terrified mother with a dying child. He is the baby killed at the hands of those who should have protected him and also the parents who did that.

He is black, white, light and dark. He stands outside of time and towers over everything else the universe has ever known.

But in all strength, he is weak and utterly defenceless. He steps in front of you. He cries.

He reaches out his arms, and enveloping your soul into his heart,
He drops his head and he dies.

Round and round, like a dance of snow,
In a dazzling drift, as its guardians, go,
Floating the women faded for ages,
Sculptured in stone on the poet's pages.

Please Help Save Our Theatre. In 2001, Victor Sobchak and Andy McQuade founded a theatre company at the Lion and Unicorn in Kentish Town. Over the years we have supported young actors, new writers, up and coming directors and entertained many thousands of people with bold and original theatre.
In June, 2008, George Sallis, an actor who Sobchak gave his first theatre break to, surreptitiously contacted the owners of the Lion and Unicorn and offered them large amounts of money to take over the theatre. The owners accepted. It was an offer Victor Sobchak wasn't able to match.
We're fighting back.
Please sign our petition and help make a strike for what is good and right in this world.
Many thanks

If you care about theatre - or just hate it when the rich think they can own anything they want - at the expense of other people's lives and happiness, PLEASE pass this on to those you know will care too.

With love and gratitude
Andy

Grace is like a large Jamaican woman with a laugh like thunder,
She lives in a two-storey apartment on the quiet side of town, where you visit her at twilight.
No sound can be heard as you approach but the distant sound of a dog barking.
As you climb the steel steps and walk down the hallway, the smell of freshly baked bread comes to greet you, seeping out from under her door.

It redeems what came before.

It draws you closer. It comforts you.

You never get to knock the door because she always gets to it first,
So excited to see you again,
She throws her arms around you and welcomes you in before you can say a word.

You always feel at home here. Wanted like nowhere else.

Her face beams and radiates love.
She reaches down and picks up your baggage.
She places it on the large wooden table in the kitchen,
And slowly she works her way through it.

You watch in silence.
When she gets to the bottom a tear falls from your cheek,
Which she catches with her handkerchief.
She places this in with the contents and closes the case once more.

She smiles tenderly as she picks it up,
And carries it upstairs.
You wonder what it's like up there.

She returns empty handed,
And you raise your fist to strike her,
But she grabs hold of your arm and pulls you in.
She embraces you and you sob like a child once more.

She whispers secrets in your ear.
She walks by your side and guides you.

I first met Grace when I was a young man,
She introduced herself to me with a hug,
And forgave me immediately.

Let her in.....and have a great day - Si

a friend is like the light.

a friend is like a flower that blooms just for you..and we can be our real selves when we see what's true..a friend is like a gentle rain when you thirst..and we are dancing rings around a rose called mother earth..a friend is like the moon choosing to reflect the light..and we couldn't see the beautiful stars unless it was for the dark of nights..a friend is like a flower we send to ourselves..a gift that just keeps on opening until the light of love is shown and felt.

what if it was never a dream
but yet further proof
of ones delusionary ways
yeah i know keth
good lad
funny
likes a drink
enjoys life
business is booming
see
keith runs the local music store
my towns full of
were gonna be
the next big thing types
im not sure why
maybe its something in the water
or maybe its deeper than that
i dont know
anyway
keith tells me
everyday
some guy comes in to the shop
usually in his late twenties
early thirties
selling a guitar bass drumkit
whatever trumpet keyboard
yeah
its never the same guy
but almost always
the same story
a common tale
obviously
not restricted
to my town
johnny bought
a guitar
at sixteen
formed a band
with billy
billy bought
a bass
that was
ten years ago
billy sold
his bass
johnny kept
his guitar
its up
in the attic
yeah
sad really
but thats life
isnt it
times change
we all have to settle down
at some point
more important things
come along
dont they
mortgage new curtains
carpets kids
or maybe they dont
but that acceptance
of failure
does
whens it kick it
that your no longer
wasting your time
but youve wasted
your time
whats the final straw
when do you give up
on the dream
and what does that feel like

A Story

This is the story of child
born in denial
sent in this world
to weep to cry
weep for the love he
felt all his life
pleading and crying
to be touched,
to be healed
touched by lips, by hands
and by soul
someone to heal him
and gather his
shattered soul
time has passed and
no one came
his eyes went dry
and no tears to shed
the wanting of touched
has died inside him
and now he mumbles
these words
words which has been
written by fate on his heart
“Alone I wait for my
death to come,
my love ones have forgotten,
forbidden and forsaken me”
