One voice . . . one guitar. And one of Canada's most "asked-to-come-back"* talents. Timeless, telling tributes and profound lyric...from one songwriter who has performed at festivals on the three shores of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans, and countless places in between.
John Spearn (var. Spearin) is Canadianafolkrootsceltic. Catch it all...the rich vocals, scintillating guitar, and amazing on-stage moxie. This is pure unplugged art...there's no paint-by-number glitz!!! Three nationally-acclaimed, grant-supported CD's Northern Sightlines (1999), Canada Songs (2002), and the new off-the-floor Lonely Heroes (2007) transcend him as a must-pick festival performer, workshop host...and multiple award-nominee.
Here you have it...a true foot-stompin', heart-grabbin' troubadour: forgotten but deserving heroes, the humility and hilarity in our international image, and stories that need to be told.

Hi John, Hope all is well with you! And that you are enjoying the holidays. Hard to believe 2007 is almost over. It seems like the years are going by in fives! You're songs and stories are simply great, not to mention you sure play some nice guitar! Best wishes for 08 :) Michael
Nice to hear from you. I see there's only one of you! Are you originally an Albertan? Although I'm born and bred in NS, the name is from the south coast of Newfoundland (St. Lawrence). My grandfather moved to Canada in the 1920s. I've run accross several people with the name "Spearns" over the years and they ALL have connections to that same town. But you're the first Spearn I've ever heard tell of! I wonder if there's a connection way back?
Do you get out on tour much? If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods be sure to look me up. We could do some gigs together and confuse the hell out of everyone!!!
