I also feel I should mention Jim Morrison and Roger Waters because The Doors and Pink Floyd are just as influential to me as any of the emcees listed above... perhaps even more so.
I'm John Suave (AKA Johnny Suave, J. Suave), an emcee / producer from Thunder Bay, Ontario. My brother Dystrakted does all of my cuts and also records and mixes most of my tracks. No, I don't expect to get signed, nor do I even have any kind of aspirations to that effect either. My goal is simply to keep improving my rhymes and production in the hopes that I can continue to make music without becoming stagnant. If a record label came my way and weren't trying to screw me or mould me, I obviously wouldn't turn it down.... I just don't expect that to happen.
Influenced by our local hip hop scene, I started writing rhymes in October of 2002. Because of Strakt, I knew most of the emcees around at the time and they weren't so different from anybody else, so I figured: "if these people can do it, why can't I?". I'd always wanted to get into a band (I play bass too) but that never worked out and I wanted to make music, so I decided to just do it on my own. I wrote in solitude for a few months until I had something to be relatively proud of, which was recorded as a demo track that will likely never see the light of day, but after that recording I was addicted. I began spending most of my free time scribbling in notebooks or sitting at the computer writing. After I recorded a few songs, I decided to start putting together an album and that's what I've been building ever since. I've been making beats since December 2004, added a Korg PadKontrol to my lab a couple years ago, and now I have an Mbox 2 Mini with Pro Tools 8 so I can record my own vocals as well.
Barring any more delays or mishaps, my debut full length release, "Somehow has a Place" should be done by 2009. It seems to never get recorded though, so that's just my new hopeful time. I'm still unsure how it's going to be released but I'd really like to get it professionally pressed if I have enough cash but who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Solid Suave! Decent beats, great samples; Hitchhikers theme in Smooth Operator touches it off nicely. The only sample I didn't hear was the kitchen sink.
