Bio
Coming from Chicago, IL, John Sutton is a professional bassist and resident of Brooklyn, NY. Very active in the city's music scene, John is making a living in New York as a bassist as well as a composer and songwriter. As a band leader, John makes up exactly 1/3 of the Vine Street Alternative, a contrapuntal indie-jazz group based in New York. He is currently also still active recording and touring with Mikel Avery's Every People Music Ensemble, a group based out of Chicago. Regarded for his versatility and authenticity in different styles, John has been honored to play with many great national and international performers. He has a degree in Double Bass Performance from Lawrence University, and has a MM in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University. John also plays electric bass. hooray music! -
