Dear Site seer

They said be quirky. Is this quirky enough? I wear red socks everyday .. it saves me making at least one damming decision before I face the world.

In warmer weather, I wear no socks at all, so if the decision to paint my feet red in the summer ever crossed my mind would I be elevated beyond quirky? I would never, however consider appearing onstage in unstockinged feet. Sandy Shaw .. pass me the 4-inch brush!

..Quirk.. .. is a word the even the etymologists of Oxford have given up on. They say ..16th century .. origin unknown.. so it..s his nibs again .. making up words .. that William Quirkspere. It..s the B-list below the A-list eccentric and one that any self-respecting B-lister would aspire to. Lazy reviewers might use it to damn your new album.

But ..quirky.. .. comes with unusual, weird and strange. It could also be considered as ..new... Could quirky by the new- nu? I..m told there is a burgeoning market for this style.

Fortunately, I..ve been described as quirky on many..s the occasion in the past .. so maybe I..m fashionable again? What joy!

My rule is simple when making album .. don..t do what you did before .. don..t repeat yourself .. that way you avoid racking up extra points on your ..licence.. and by so doing you might stumble across a form the customers like .. then you can repeat yourself ad-nauseum and make so much money you can buy out the licensing authority. Dream on, red socks!

So put me down as quirky .. it..s an affectionate little word and I..m proud to be its bearer.

How generously inclined to it, dear friends are you?

PS Who, hands up, wants to be usual?

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Hey there,
Here's one from left field...
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible.
Help to raise awareness.
Say have you checked out my web site (www.faberoptime.com) recently?
Take care and keep in touch.
Best,
Faber.

(Hi: enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
