About John Merrifield
John Merrifield began his career in high school as a graphic designer, set designer, and visual effects artist for a local television and video production studio. The same year, John also found time to start a graphic design studio, where he began developing corporate identity materials, websites, and digital illustrations for various clients. A year later, he taught himself to color comic books with Adobe Photoshop, showed a few examples of his work to a local comic book company, and was hired immediately. He has since built a reputation as an accomplished graphic artist as well as a digital prepress and printing expert.
John believes “design works” when a clear message is merged with a consistent concept. He discovers the right message by asking his clients the right questions, and then listening to their answers. Out of this dialogue, a concept begins to emerge. From there, he puts the concept in motion.
JMD&C services a wide variety of clients through a multidisciplinary approach to design. To remain competitive in today’s fast-paced world, John constantly adapts to and utilizes new technologies and creative marketing concepts.
John received a degree in graphic design in 2004 and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in visual effects and motion graphics from the Art Institute of Los Angeles. He is currently available for freelance and part time projects.
