It's A Toe Tappin' Heal Stompin' Roots Rockin' Good Time The John Trollmann Band came together in 2008 to record my cd, Ray's Last Stand and started playing shows in January 2009. Our songs traverse places and characters, where dreams live and die and are hard fought and lost: a mountain man who wastes upwards of a lifetime tinkering and plying his time to move a river; a aimless prospector and the riches he'll never find; a grizzled man who shrugs off the comfort of domestic bliss in the Sierra Nevada in search of some higher beauty; and a free spirit who runs a bar in a the most desolate edge of Death Valley, only to proclaim, "...I'd do it again, if I had another chance." Hows that for ambition? John was influenced by the songs of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, the guitar styles of Ramblin' Jack Elliot, the regional rock and blues songwriting of Peter Case and Dave Alvin, and songs of Mike Beck that recall the big landscape country of California and the West. About my new CD Ray's Last Stand: John's debut release, Ray's Last Stand, is a concept that began with the title song. "I was riding my bicycle in and around Death Valley," John explains, "when I came upon an outpost on a seldom traveled road run by a lone gentleman selling soft drinks and beer. That image has always stuck with me and it became the inspiration for the other songs on the CD. You can purchase a copy of the CD or MP3 downloads from the online store cdbaby.com. Follow the cdbaby link on the left. If you're within shouting distance, you can also snag a copy in person. He performs solo in coffee houses and other venues in and around the Los Angeles and Orange County areas and California and the West.
