Born in the Bronx, New York in 1969, John started playing guitar at age 8. His early influences were Rock, R & B, Jazz, Blues, Funk and Pop music from the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. John has played in the New York area for two decades in various original and cover bands on guitar and saxophone performing in clubs, weddings, corporate functions and private parties.
Over the years he has played and recorded with many well known local, national and internationaly recognized musicians of diverse styles and genres, all of whom have had a big influence on John as he absorbs their masterful musicianship to help forge his own style and voice. His playing is dynamic and unique brought together by very good technical ability. Above all, it is soulful and musical.
John has a Bachelors of Music from Berklee College of Music. He has studied and performed publicly with some of the great jazz musicians in New York and at Berklee who have challenged John to master his own musical destiny. Proficient on guitar and saxophone, this uncommon doubling of these two instruments sets John apart and makes him a valuable professional musician.
John has just released his self produced debut CD "Full Moon Rising". A full length nine song mix of straight ahead swingin jazz, latin and funky jazz with 3 originals and several jazz standards. As expected, John has assembled a great group of musicians to back him on this CD. Cameron Brown, world reknown jazz journeyman and long time friend of John, appears on 5 songs. Four songs include John's buddies from Berklee that added a great dimension and dynamic to the CD. You can purchase his CD on his website at www.johntutino.com
