Listen to Johnty Wilks latest songs (see below) - a mixture of chillout, nu - jazz, electronica, mellow saxophone ballads, sacred world, new age music (especially with the band "Awakened Samatha") and let us know what you think by leaving a comment. If you like a track, then please feel free to add it to your profile, tell your friends and join our mailing list for gigs, free mp3 downloads and new songs. Thanks for supporting Johnty Wilks & nu - jazz, downtempo, chill out, sacred & ambient music! ================================================================================================== .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ......================================================================================================== About me: I like to make soft, mellow saxophone and electronica inspired music. I am a big fan of music that enables us to relax, that has that "feel good" factor, than can also make us dance with abandon. My favourite genres are based around thrree diffferent styles that are all based on relaxation or dance: jazz (smooth jazz, nu jazz, Jazz standards ballads, Jazz funk), relaxing music (Chill out, lounge, ambient, meditative, and quality new age), and for dance music I love House, ethnic, World and jazz funk. I am in the fortunate position of being able to create the above kind of music in my studio, live and with others musicians. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ============================================================================================ I am primarily a saxophonist (alto, soprano, tenor, plus beginners flute & synth's, didge and bongo's)., but I am also learning the skills of music production. I am also an experienced jazz / dance influenced Dj. I create music that is an invitation to relax and an opportunity to feel bliss, dance with creative freedom and experience deep inner peace. I do this though playing and writing smooth and nu – jazz, "chill out" and am in the early stages of producing/ mixing, house / dance, meditative, ethnic, ambient music. I do this under the name "Awakened Samatha" see http:// www.myspace.com/awakenedsamatha for chill out and meditative tracks and gig details.============================================================================================ I enjoy improvisation in the studio and playing live with other musicians. This is also inspired by my spiritual practise as a (nowdays non drinking, non drug taking) long term practitioner of Buddhist mediation. I produce music on my own but also collaborate with other musicians and producers.=============================================== I have my own spacious studio (with an open fireplace!) based in a beautiful medieval tudor manor house (actually a musicians retreat centre and B & B, see http://www.myspace.com/529278563 ) near Stansted airport in Essex and also frequent London aswell. The studio also has accommodation and is based on a 100 acres of land with a river and ancient woodland. In the studio we use mainly Cubase, Ableton software, 18 track live music audio interface mixing desk, Korg R3 synthesiser and other keyboards, midi interfaces, Yamaha Drum machine, among other equipment. The studio is also available for hire to musicians, bands and producers / dj's that are looking to produce, in an inspiring and peaceful setting with accommodation and stunning views. Session musicians are available (I play alto, soprano and tenor saxophones, electronic saxophones and sax synths), didge, flute, bongos, or if you prefer, I have a network of excellent local musicians.================================================= I also hold private "house concerts" and jam sessions at the manor house. Please contact me if you want to play or attend. We also have a number of visiting musicians who stay at the house and work with us on a voluntrary basis learning new skills or contributing their expertise in return for accommodation, food and the opportunity to collaborate on various music projects.============================================================================================== I also play smooth jazz , jazz ballads, lounge and "chill out" live in restaurants, clubs, festivals, bars and parties, either alone, as a duo or with a band. I also occasionally Dj. ================================================= I am available for bookings as saxophonist or with other musicians, and as a composer and music production e.g.documentaries, corporate work for short films, youtube etc. ================================================= Finally I am always interested to hear from musicians and vocalists that would like to collaborate – either through collaboration and sharing of intellectual property or participation as session musicians / producers. I work with musicians all over the world via the internet. I look forward to hearing from you Kind regards Johnty P.S. Dont forget to sign up to my mailing list for gigs and new releases -
