John Waters nyc, is a 23 year old young trumpet player. Born and raised in eastern Queens, NY, John started playing trumpet in junior high school and continued on with his music in high school. Earning a scholarship to study music in college, he went off to the hartt school, where legendary Jackie McLean was the director of jazz. John met the legendary and one of his jazz idols, and even had the opportunity of working for him at his other home (aka... the Artists Collective) teaching trumpet lessons, during his sophomore year. John graduated Hartt in January 2008, with a degree in music, jazz studies and music management knowledge.
--While in school, John met and played and studied with established musicians including:Roger Murtha, Gabor Viragh, Valery Ponomarev, Steve Davis, Rick Rozie, Renee McLean, Melonae McLean, etc....
--In 2007, under Warner Brothers Music, Milan Records, John played and recorded with the "Landau Orchestra" recording an EP/JANUS PLAYS TELEPHONE and an iTUNES RELEASE of "PANS LABRYNITH". (Available for download on iTunes.)
--John's love for the music is in the early New Orelans/street beat/brass band style. He is currently playing in the "Hungry March Band" where he is enjoying himself, and learning.
--John's dream is to play/or have his own brass ensemble, similiar to that of the "Rebirth, dirty dozen, treme, or hot 8."

I'm doing well, it's good to be back home, although I didn't expect to be back as early as I am, but in the end it's all good. I'm supposed to be heading out to Long Island for the day on Saturday, so maybe on my way back to Connecticut we could meet up even if only for a few minutes.
Love the Appointment in Ghana. I know that you studied that recording on JMac's album Jackie's Bag as I heard a few Blue Mitchell quotes in there. Sounds great! What else is going on with you?
