Guitarist/singer-songwriter - JOHN WICKS - formed - "THE RECORDS" - a British powerpop/rock band, together with drummer/lyricist - WILL BIRCH - in 1978.
They recorded three albums for Virgin, and played with such acts as - THE CARS, ROBERT PALMER, ELVIS COSTELLO, THE JAM and JOE JACKSON. Their first album - "SHADES IN BED"/"THE RECORDS" - released in 1979 - produced by - MUTT LANGE and TIM FRIESE-GREENE - went top 40 in the US., spawning the classic hit single - STARRY EYES. Several singles followed, including 1980's - HEARTS IN HER EYES - which was also covered and released on Sire Records by - THE SEARCHERS. These days JOHN WICKS is a solo artist, who writes, records, produces and plays live shows, with a new "RECORDS" line-up, billed as - "JOHN WICKS AND THE RECORDS".
