That's great.  Everyone always seems to have a different favorite.  For me, there are things I love about each song.  For example, I think Sure Thing has some of my finest solos, and Like Daylight has the best groove.  I can never settle on a favorite overall.  I do think that Brand New Color is the catchiest song we have, though.

On a separate, and no doubt unexpected, note:  It looks like this is the end of the line for the band.  We will be getting together tomorrow and figuring out how we are going to divide our assets, and that'll be it.  I'll post an explanation soon enough in the form of a blog to answer questions.  It'll be very taxing to explain everything individually.  I'm sorry if this comes as a shock.  I don't think we really expected it either.  But feel free to still love the music.  I do, and always will.

9th and the 14th, huh?  I'll see what I can do to get something booked.  Will you guys be in Manchester?

New York was exactly what I expected:  small, but  fun.  I think we gained a lot of experience out of it.  We have another show tonight in NH, and then another up in Portsmouth on the 25th.

So, you're from MD, right?  How much do you know of NH then?

The Baltimore show is a no go, but it was great to get so many leads.  As we gain clout, thanks to fans like you, we'll be able to perform in more areas.  When's the next time you're gonna be in NH?

The direction of 'Out of Gas' is superlative.  I also loved 'Objects in Space.'  The bounty hunter character was almost too good for television.  Plus, River finally found her niche.

You bought Vows and a Party!?  Thank you, so much!  That helps us in innumerable ways.

My favorite AIC?  That choice is very tough.  Among them are Rotten Apple, Nutshell, and Brother.  I love singing depressing songs, apparently.  I think the best album, overall, is Dirt, but is that even debatable?  I used to listen to Would? every morning before school for much of the 90's.  Pearl Jam was the band about which I obsessed the most growing up, though.  Now, I regard Dean Deleo as one of my two greatest guitar influences.  The other is David Gilmore of Pink Floyd.

    Do you play any instruments?

Yeah, Zoe is probably my second favorite character.  She had a great scene in the episode where Mal and Wash were being tortured, and the villain (whose name escapes me) tried to pin her in a tough choice between her husband and her captain, but she picked Wash before the guy even finished his sentence.  I loved it whenever Joss would seam to be heading into cliche territory and then flip it on its head.

I haven't seen that, or any other, Sing-Along-Blog.  I will follow up on your recommendation.  I trust your judgment.

I think I was saying that I'm really loving the new songs we have been writing since the first album came out.  But those you'll have to catch live.  ;)

I suppose you're right; a Browncoat I'll be, then.  After careful consideration, I'd say my favorite character is Mal.  But I don't like him all the time, which is exactly why that show was so amazing.  The characters are quite deep, especially Mal.  You can tell that Joss puts most of his energy into that character.  I've actually found that none of the male characters are 100% likable because all of them have foibles.  That element really drew me in.  I think that is a hard thing to sustain consistently as a writer, but Joss pulls it off.  Mal can be tyranos, Wash can be weak, the preacher self righteous, and the doctor's pomposity doesn't mix well with the down and dirty crew.  Finally, Jayne has his poles reversed: he's bad before he's good.  There is a weakness in the writing, though, because the females are almost devoid of foibles altogether, and they are more one dimentional characters because of it.  They'll behave the same way in each situation.  They are pure.  Even River's flaws are not so much personality traits as they are medical issues (forced upon her by the evil Alliance)  I think, if I can peer into the director's subconcious, that is because Mr. Whedon favors, and wants to baby, the women.  Protect them, perhaps.  Which I can understand.  I'd probably have the same inclination.  It's just a little critique I picked out just now.

That shirt you have is awesome.  I love the dialogue in the series.  The rural badassness that still seems to have a tinge of knightly honor to it.  Even in the opening sequence to each show, "If you have a job, we'll take it.  Don't much care what it is."

    Yeah, a Browncoat I am.  :)

Brand New Color is definitely one of our best songs.  I enjoy my solos in that one EVERY time I play them.  Sometimes songs grow stale for a while, but that one never seems too.  I'm really loving the ne

I LOVE Firefly!  I knew there was only one season from the beginning, so I had an ominous sense of impending heartbreak as I began to get really hooked.  Great characters, great writing, great culture.  It was as if no force in all the 'Verse could stop them, but Fox executives....  :(  I don't know if I'd call myself I browncoat, but I'm damned close.

That info would be extremely helpful, especially if you can give me a sense of what those venues are like.  Often people will suggest we play venues that require much more clout than we actually have.

Oh, and the BIGGEST thing you could do for us?  That would be getting your friends on board.  That would be EPIC!
  • Sep 6 2009 4:24 AM

Yeah, that list is not completely updated.  Unless there is a miracle from  the booking gods, it looks like NYC is the closest we'll come to Baltimore.  And this is the same Justin you met, not to be confused with the OTHER Justin in the band.  You have a favorite song?
  • Sep 6 2009 2:27 AM

Well, don't be a stranger, damnit!  Get out to some shows!  Oh, and it's good to see Nathan Fillion on here:  I just finished watching entire star-crossed season of Firefly on Hulu.
