Jolly Lhama was originally formed during high school in the year 2000 as four guys who just enjoyed jamming as a hobby. After playing together for 4 years and still not having a recording on par with our expectations due to the difficulty of finding a quality recording studio that wouldn't break the bank, we finally decided to spend our 2004 income tax checks on some recording equipment to tinker with. With nothing but an old computer, a mixer, and some mics, we locked ourselves away with a determination to make a product that we could truly put our weight behind.

What started as an experimental recording turned into an album that would give the band enough courage to put everything that we had towards our goal of becoming a legitimate force in the music business. Even though Jolly Lhama was bringing crowds of 300+ people on a regular basis, the realization came that it would be impossible to be heard in our small home town of Paris, TX. The 100 mile drive to Dallas almost wasn't even worth the trouble, and a change of scenery seemed like a good idea that would spark drastic changes and solidify how serious we were about our goals. After years of hearing about the booming music scene in Seattle, we decided to pack up our things, gather up the tiny bit of money that we had, and move across the country to take a shot at our dreams. We were broke, didn't even have an appartment lined out, and didn't know what we were going to do about finding jobs, but we just did what we had to do.

Before even moving to the area, Jolly Lhama was already being played on Garage Monkey, which is a local music show on The Funky Monkey 104.9 in Seattle. We also were cleared with the Hot Topic marketing department to place our album in various Hot Topic stores after a little research and deciding which store locations would be best to cater to our market. We decided to hold off until Jolly Lhama could become well-established in Seattle, rather than concentrating on the stores in the Dallas area, because we wouldn't be in the area to promote anymore after we moved. We plan on following through with the Hot Topic plan as soon as we get the ball rolling in our new scene.

It was understood early on that in order to be successful, a band must not try to put themselvess in direct competition with other bands, because there are just too many good bands that have many different things to offer. Obviously there will never be one clear "winner". The key goal is to find a niche and "get in where we fit in" by offering something that other bands aren't offering, and playing our hearts out for the people who actually connect with our music and understand what we're all about. Many bands have a "gimmick" or an image that seems like it was overly produced and planned as a pre-packaged deal. We like to think that our gimmick is the fact that we don't really have a gimmick. We're just some guys who enjoy getting up on stage and rocking the crowd. There's nothing fake here.. Passion, work ethic, professional guidance, and a well laid-out plan for success are all important factors, and Jolly Lhama is well aware of that. One of the main reasons for moving was to stop wandering aimlessly and find the backing support that we have always needed. That is what Jolly Lhama intends to do, and now begins the journey towards our goals.

thought id make a statement.

Jolly Lhama isnt a former thing dammit.

this goddamn band gave hope to a handful of kids
(one i know for sure)

my favorite damn act isnt allowed to break up.

im tired of this world breaking apart some of the best things.

i mean come on

Led Zeppelin and bonzo
Van Halen and dave
Sunny and Cher
The Three Stooges and Curley

dont become a statistic,

ive heard the circumstances,

ive heard the story,

ive heard the music.

and ive heard it a lot.

hope was found,
now hope is lost.

believe it or not,
a band breaking up affects more than just the band it self.

a band comes with fans,

fans want nothing more than to be a witness and hear more.

and when you take that away, what is this fan to do?

i know the break up of the band wasnt wanted.
trust me
i know the break up of the band isnt wanted.

but im havin depressing day

farewell
