How to find the Jolly Troll:
We are located at 21650 US Highway 75, about a mile south of Holton, on the east side of the highway. The building also houses the Holton Bowling Center.

The Jolly Troll rock club in Holton, Kansas was once the focal point, a mecca so to speak, for the rock nightlife for hundreds of people on any given weekend. Many local and touring bands of the 70s have fond memories of the day.
In the 1970s, popular music groups such as Kansas, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, Missouri,Black Oak Arkansas, Johnny Rocker, Limousine, Tracer, Baby, Oz, Head East, Sugarloaf, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, Bluebeard, Cocky Fox, Warlok, Saratoga, Fyre, White Clover, The Southside Rockers and many others would play at the Jolly Troll, a nightclub next door to the Holton Bowling Center south of the city.
People would drive from surrounding counties, towns, especially Topeka, to gather at what was then the hub of rock music in Northeast Kansas. Spend one night at the Troll, and you knew you could drop in anytime for a band party you would enjoy!
In September 1987, Black Oak Arkansas and the Southside Rockers performed at the last show ever hosted at the Jolly Troll Stardust. Soon afterward, the Stardust was damaged by severe weather and was later dismantled. The bar remained closed until now.
But now new owners Alan and Tina Higgins and Terry McNeel have taken over the Holton Bowling Center, and have reopened the Jolly Troll and are making it THE home for live music in Northeast Kansas again.
They plan to expand bowling programs, business hours
and services in an effort to make it a total family fun center. "This is a labor of love. This is a community-based project," Tina said.
Meanwhile, those of us who remember the good old days,
when the Jolly Troll would have upward of 1000 people on
a good night in the summer, are happy to see what is unfolding here.

All 6 Bands who are chosen to perform will have an opportunity to sell tickets in advance. You will receive $2 for every $5 ticket that is sold.
