C.J. Rapp was in college in Upstate NY when he had a “eureka” moment. After 4 years of watching his peers chug coffee (among other things!) and pop caffeine pills to stay awake, he knew there had to be a better tasting way to get caffeine! And JOLT was born!
In 1985, C.J. launched JOLT with "Twice the Caffeine”. During a time when most “soda” companies were cutting back on caffeine, sugar etc. JOLT was the rebel refreshment beverage that broke the rules…and may have pissed off a few parents! Kids would slam some JOLT’s and stay awake until the wee hours of the A.M..
Throughout the 90’s JOLT was known as “America’s Most Powerful Cola” and was insanely popular over seas. JOLT developed a large following of teens, students, gamers, rock musicians, Hollywood stars, extreme athletes and computer programmers. College kids consumed tons of JOLT to study for exams and to stay awake for late night parties and bar hoppin’…err I mean library visits.
