Award winning soprano Joanne McGahon is an international performer of startling versatility, known for her ability to portray a vast range of music with great passion and understanding. As an experienced vocalist and recital artist, Joanne has performed at various concert halls and cathedrals around England as well as regularly touring Italy. Joanne charms her audience wherever she goes, whether as an imposing and dramatic opera singer or with the delicate and thoughtful beauty of Oratorio singing. Recent appearances include Watford Coliseum, Alban Arena, Woburn Abbey, Winchester and Wells Cathedral, The Brighton Dome, Hendon RAF Museum, The Hackney Empire, St. James Piccadilly and St. Albans Cathedral. Joanne is a talented recording artist, performing on television and film soundtracks as well as recently recording an album with classical guitarist Darren Loveday. Her dulcet tones have been heard on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 2. Joanne trained with English National Opera in 2003 and was awarded “The Voice of North London” in 2006. Most recently, Joanne was voted “Best Classical Artist” in the MMA Music Awards 2009. In addition, Joanne has had the privilege of receiving vocal coaching from the wonderful Norman Welsby and highly talented Anna Tilbrook as well as working with Mary King, Leah Haussman, Rufus Norris, English National Opera, The Fitzwilliam Quartet, Adoramus Choir and Orchestra and The Classical Prom Company. -

Bio:
Soprano Joanne McGahon trained with English National Opera in 2003 specialising in vocal performance, drama and dance and she has had the privilege of receiving vocal coaching from Norman Welsby, Anna Tilbrook and Chris Neave as well as participating in workshops with Mary King (Royal Academy of Music) and Carrie and David Grant. In a competition in 2006, Joanne was awarded first prize and the prestigious title of “The Voice of North London” resulting in a performance with the Classical Prom Company at Trent Park Open Air Concert. At the North London Festival of Music and Drama, Joanne was chosen as one of the finalists. As an experienced vocalist and recital artist, Joanne has performed at various concert halls and cathedrals around England as well as touring Italy with Adoramus Choir and Orchestra. Joanne regularly sings at various weddings and corporate events, recent appearances include Woburn Abbey, The Carlton Club (London) and St. James, Piccadilly. Joanne’s versatility enables her to perform a variety of musical styles, in particular musical theatre, recently starring at the Alban Arena. Joanne regularly sings lead vocals in an eleven piece Motown band at various charity and private events. Joanne was featured on BBC Radio 4 live morning service as well as BBC Radio 2 and has recorded children’s music for Mothercare and ELC. Joanne has sung on various musical theatre and classical CDs and more recently she has recorded an album with classical guitarist Darren Loveday. Joanne is a vocal coach to both adults and children and her versatile vocal techniques enable her to teach any genre of music with great success.
