Before having moved to Amsterdam to study jazz saxophone at the conservatory I had been playing with two all-state youth big bands in Germany: Hamburg’s “Jazzessence“ and Lower-Saxony’s “Windmachine“. During my studies I worked in several musical projects. Leaders have included Guillermo Celano, and Stephan Meidell. I have been a member of the “New Generation Big Band“with whom I have performed at major jazz festivals such as the “North Sea Jazz Festival“ and “The Hague Jazz“ as well as on several national TV shows. This young band has just released their second album which features Bob Mintzer. I also was a member of Germany’s national youth orchestra (“BuJazzO), lead by Peter Herbolzheimer. With the band “Endangered Species“, which is lead by guitarist Nils Weinhold an me, I have been performing at jazz festivals and clubs in Germany and the Netherlands. Venues include the “Birdland“ in Hamburg (Germany) and the “Oxident Bar“ in Berlin (Germany).
In 2008 I studied at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where I had the privilege of learning from Dave Liebman, and Phil Markowitz. During that time I have played and recorded with several New York City based ensembles. Venues in New York have included the “Garage” and “Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola – Jazz at Lincoln Center”.
In July 2009 I will return to live in New York and to finish my Master studies at the Manhattan School of Music.
