Bio
In a word, tasty… Press play on his Nashville recorded and produced CDS– LAUNCH (2004) AND SIREN CALL (2007) – and the listener is taken by storm. Electrifying all-original rock. Soulful stories driven by gutsy guitars, bold vocals and muscular rhythms. Groove, tone and vibe. All stamp the music of rock guitarist and singer/songwriter Jonathan Auerbach. HEARD it?... Jonathan's new Nashville 3, HEARD (2010) nails it again with a cache of outstanding new all-originals and his signature %&*! killer band sound… In the studio Jonathan fronts recording and touring aces who have played with the likes of Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Fleetwood Mac and John Fogerty. With or without the band... Jonathan plays with abandon. A powerhouse performer on stage, Jonathan has notched high-profile tours of the USA, Italy, Austria, Spain and Portugal, garnering worldwide radio play, press praise, and a notable USA and Europe fan base . Maverick streak… Of his award-winning writing and music, Jonathan muses, " I go for the jugular -- I write what I want, I like what I like. For me, rock music is take no prisoners in rendering something true and expressive. The challenge I set myself writing, recording and performing a song is, no shallows, just deep waters. Those rare songs on the car radio where you have to pull over to hear, and to shout: 'holy !*$$!!, who was that?!' So stay tuned and buckle up-- my third record will rearrange some molecules…" Taking a stand… Jonathan's outreach through his music has boosted causes ranging from hospices to the homeless to "music therapy" in cancer care. Now in his fifth year of a major commitment to secure the future of music therapy in cancer care at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute -- donating and raising money, raising awareness, and teaching music to kids with cancer -- Jonathan has raised upwards of $65,000 in support of the music therapy program at DFCI's Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies. Jonathan created a series of master class workshops that he teaches at DFCI, called "Rock in Time – Rock Music Performance Jams." His classes emphasize the art and craft of performance for young cancer patients who have some prior music and a willingness to be open to learning more. Says Jonathan, "For these young people, it's a chance to explore their inner rock star and to have fun, leaving behind the world of cancer, if only for a short time. Each child has unique health challenges, but music is a universal gift: music moves, music frees, music heals." Jonathan is also on the Business Development and Strategy Advisory board of The Global Music Therapy Project. This non-profit organization specializes in the global delivery and evaluation of music therapy services to disadvantaged populations through the creation of fellowships that enable certified and trained therapists to serve developing countries. http://www.globalmusictherapy.org/Home Nuff talkin', more rockin'… ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...................... -
