Jonathan Blake
Winner at the 2008 Orange County Music Awards for "Best Male Artist," and described as “Grammy-worthy” by LA’s most prominent players, Jonathan Blake is Southern California’s hottest emerging artist. Redefining the blues for 21st Century, he gains mass attention for his distinct Pop and Rock appeal. His exceeding skills as singer, songwriter and guitarist are destined to join the ranks of legends, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton.
Jonathan pioneers a new sound uniquely his own, fusing vibes reminiscent of the Delta with the edge of today’s California. His debut album, Wake Up Call, produced by world-class jazz composer Rob Mullins, showcases his extraordinary musical repertoire.
His rise in popularity deriving from his powerful one-man performances, pack venues regularly throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.
The Journey
Jonathan Blake, born Jonathan Blake Salazar, of Orange County discovered his love for music at age thirteen. A self-taught guitar player, he also secretly began writing music.
While music was very important to Jonathan, he was also heavily into athletics. Jonathan avidly played baseball and football throughout high school. He was a four year starting varsity pitcher for the baseball team and the starting varsity Quarterback for the football team. He later went on to play college baseball. In a twist of fate—an injury to his shoulder forced an early end to his baseball career.
Jonathan returned to his first love of music and discovered he possessed vocal skills that equally matched his abilities as a guitar player and songwriter. He then sought formal training from Grammy acclaimed jazz musician and composer, Rob Mullins. Only after a few lessons, Rob realized he was in the presence of musical genius. Rob became his manager and producer, marking the launch of Jonathan’s professional music career.
I am very pleased to announce that I recorded a new version of the song "Wake Up Call" which just debuted on both Amazon.com and iTunes. The vocals and guitar were produced by world famous Jazz pianist and composter, Rob Mullins.

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character. Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons. Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference. It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.
From my family to yours, wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving

Thank you for connecting. YOu've done some really good work with these songs. I just listened to "Just Fine" and I love the lyrics, your vocals and your guitar work. The scale riff is cool, reminds me of Cat Stevens "Wild World". I'll be back to visit soon... best!
