Jonathan Brain
Indie-folk singer Jonathan Brain's songs travel the open landscape of the soul; with a unique voice described as "extraordinary" by Wire Magazine and as “haunting” by The Australian he paints distinct visions of post-millennial life - the beauty of the everyday, relationships bungled and hearts on the mend.
Jonathan has performed extensively across Western Australia and interstate, including recent performances and workshops at the National Folk Festival in Canberra and the Fairbridge Festival. With quicksilver guitar playing, an effortlessly pure voice and literate songs, Jonathan is an engaging and unique live performer.
His two solo EPs showcase his varied influences, which range from alt country, folk balladry and rock through to rich choral and instrumental textures.
Jonathan also enjoys a lively schedule as a choral director, working with a number of professional, community and school choirs over the last three years.
About Jonathan:
The guitar lines in the songs, loud or soft, captured the intended mood flawlessly, providing a base for his pristine, soaring vocals. He closed the set with the traditional English folk ballad, I Am Stretched On Your Grave , perfectly capturing the haunting melodies before the band filled out the sound… Jason Kenny, X-Press Magazine
…Jonathan Brain shone in front of the small crowd. Enticing and dulcet, Brain showcased a talent for telling stories of tempestuous romance, love and loss. Brain’s exquisite voice and his skill on the guitar give his songs poetry that extends beyond the lyric and into the music… Josie Smith, X-Press Magazine

Mr Brainnnn!!! It's been too long! How is everything? I'm quite annoyed that that singing lesson didn't work out! We must try to organise another one when everyone's free, I miss your teachings!
Jonathan, Thanks for the hello, Fairbridge was certainly one of the real highlights of our five weeks in Oz. Sorry we missed your act, but I'm glad you found us in the fibre-optic channels. You've got some pretty songs there, though I'm curious what kind of winter you're talking about braving... would that be a WA winter? I would like to experience a WA winter. You should come over here in January-- you'd get some brand new material out of it, I have no doubt! See you out in the fields of song, Corin.
amazing my freind, especially, brave the winter and after the blind.. cant wait to catch a show and see what we can achieve from there.. thanks for your help and support, see you in the new year when we get to you from the UK.. you have a fan in Manchester. peace and love Scott Nicholas When Autumn Leaves.
Hey there - have you checked out my page recently? There is my first music video playing, would love to hear what you think! It's for 'your love is amazing' - oh, and the album is finally available on iTunes now! Alex
Doing a gig sounds good! Any weekend coming up before July (when I fly on my goose-wings to sing on that far away continent) would be great... Where you wanna play? G
