Jonathan Carr is a singer/songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. Having received a partial scholarship from the Berklee College of Music at the age of 17, Jonathan had to raise the other necessary funds in order to achieve his dream of studying there. This was accomplished through the generosity of his family, friends and all the people who supported and believed in him in Scotland.
In his time at Berklee, Jonathan has performed in Singer's Showcase, Singer's Night, Convocation, Parents Night, Berklee Gala and 'Storytellers.' It was during this time that his songwriting really matured and he began to get noticed for his unique sound which combined piano based rock with influences of jazz and soul, whilst keeping a contemporary feel. Recently, Jonathan was selected as one of 12 songwriters to perform an original song for John Mayer. John chose Jonathan as one of three writers to work and record with. They recorded his song 'The Jokes On Me' with John Mayer featured on guitar. A real honour and a highlight of Jonathan's time here in America.
A lot of his inspiration to write comes from him being away from home. His songs are normally biographical, taking stories from his everyday life that many people can relate to.
Jonathan will be performing with his band around the Boston area over the coming months before returning to Scotland in December. Please come out when you can, it will be a great time!!
