Lenny Breau, Derek Trucks, Ben Monder, Chris Potter, Adam Rogers, Jonathan Kriesburg, Eric Johnson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Craig Wagner, John Scofield, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Jimmy Herring, Sonny Landreth, Wayne Krantz, Guthrie Govan, John Petrucci, and many, many more I'm not thinking of right now...
Sounds Like
Derek Trucks, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jeff Beck, Robben Ford, Jimmy Herring, Eric Johnson, and many others, but in a way that will eventually be labeled as "me" I hope!
Freshly out of college, I am looking for new musical experiences and musicians to learn from. I am dividing my time between playing with the band Paradigm (myspace.com/paradigmgroove), freelancing jazz gigs, and performing with anyone else that calls me to play regardless of style, genre, instrumentation, etc. as long as it is musically adventurous and open minded! I play both the 7 string guitar and the normal six string variety, mostly inspired by my guitar teacher, Craig Wagner. I play with my fingers and a thumbpick, which doubles as a flatpick at times. It is an interesting technique that has opened many doors for inventive musical ideas on the guitar, and I feel like I have just begun to discover the possiblities...
I love playing jazz and blues, but I also enjoy rock music and listening to/playing with talented musicians in ANY genre, there is really no music that I won't try to play! I have also taken up the slide as a new avenue for my playing. I am dividing my practice time between working on slide, new right hand techniques, maintaining a strong rhythmic feel to everything I do regardless of difficulty or awkwardness, and becoming more adept at utilizing the 7 string guitar.
I wasn't sure if you had made your way to Germany yet? Maybe you said September-ish? If you are still in the states, have a safe trip and congratulations again! If you've already left, I hope you are enjoying your time abroad!!! It was great meeting you in Nashville and I hope we get to do some playing at some point really soon!
