Jonathan Gibbs
"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials."
Hello out there! I'm Jonathan Gibbs, i have currently been dedicating my time to a ton of recent travel destinations, meeting lots of cool new people and learning about tons of other cultures. A recent passion has emerged from such adventures and the last few years of my existence. Between seeing and experiencing other cultures, self trials, tribulations, discoveries and growth, I have ignited a passion for helping others realize their potential, in all aspects of life! I do believe that all of this starts with self confidence and financial stability, both of which can be obtained though discipline and the acquisition of proper decision making techniques and retention of relevant knowledge.
Like a hunting dog on point, Jonathan Gibbs was fairly quivering, so eager was he to hear the question wrapped up and get on with the answer. "What do you think about the Ivy League's preseason media poll that picked you guys to finish sixth?" the Dartmouth tri-captian was asked yesterday at the photo shoot that annually kicks off the start of practice. "There's been a little expression here that's been around since I got here", the second-team All-Ivy linebacker said with a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. "It's called, No Idea. Its what every team in this league has when they play us. "They think they practiced hard. They think they work hard. They think they are coming out ready to play....
Jonathan Gibbs made an impact on Dartmouth's line up in 1997, earning second team All-Ivy honors at inside linebacker. Jonathan began his freshmen season with the jayvee squad but quickly adjusted and was one of three freshmen to earn a varsity letter in 1995. Jonathan Gibbs can also be found among the names gracing the Top 20 all time tacklers list, along with earning his varsity letters all four years with the team.
Such high honors with the numbers to back it up:
80 Unassisted Tackles; 66 Assisted Tackles; 146 Total Tackles; 3 Total Sacks.
Other highlights of Jonathan Gibbs' all star stent with the varsity team include, first team Academic All American, helping attibute the team with some of the longest unbeaten streaks: in 1996 with a 10 game streak, and in 1997 with a 22 game streak pushing forward for a 27-2-1 record for the season. Also in 1997, Jonathan Gibbs earned The Jake T. Young Award, presented to the senior football squard member of the varsity defense who, by vote of the football coaching staff, has made the most significant contribution to the success of the team.
