JONATHAN PERKINS
After making his introduction as a sensitive, acoustic-styled songwriter in 2001 college music scene Jonathan Perkins has evolved from his college music scene roots and come into his own,
Encompassing everything from blues-rock to adult contemporary in the process, and opting for a lighter sound, Perkins has formed a signature style that takes advantage of the stripped down live sounds of an acoustic guitar.
Born in Sylvan Beach, NY, and raised in the nearby town Oriskany, Perkins began playing the guitar as a teenager. By 1999, he had nurtured his love of music by pursuing a Music Industry degree at SUNY College of Oneonta, almost immediately Perkins began making his mark in the local coffeehouse circuit and began writing original material that melded pop/acoustic rock. Although sometimes performing with a band Perkins found his niche as a solo act. Using his unique blend of introspective lyrics Perkins became a local favorite and was even awarded with the coveted Songwriter of the Year award presented by the Oneonta State music department.
Along with graduating Oneonta’s music program Perkins, choose to pursue other non performing endeavors within the Music Industry such as positions with Sony Music which has seen him move to New York City, Los Angeles and back. However after returning to his roots and a short hiatus Perkins has revitalized his solo career with a renewed vigor.
