Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jonathan Thomas began playing violin at the tender age of two. Learning via the Suzuki Method, he began performing at five and continued well into his teens. At thirteen his father, a professional pianist, bought Jonathan his first bass guitar as a way to start a family group with his older brothers on guitar and drums. That never panned out, but Jonathan continued to play bass guitar and joined various garage and basement bands along the way.
Jonathan first began performing professionally playing club gigs at 17 in a cover band that lasted for about a year. After that he was a member and leader of a number of groups, doing most if not all the writing and singing. It's been a long time since those first club dates and aside from teaching, Jonathan is still performing and recording in a number of different groups in the Twin Cities area.
