| About Jonathan Copley |
|
It’s all about me, me, me…
Being on the wrong side of 30 I’ve been involved in North West music since the early 90's. Starting out in the Jane Weaver fronted, media and Mark Radcliffe favourites Kill Laura, I got to ‘live the dream’ being signed to Polydor then Rob Gretton’s Manchester Records label, recording, touring and being asked to leave Elastica alone.
Unfortunately all good things must end and Kill Laura split but this didn't put me off and I formed Spoonwagon before moving onto the Van Buren Brothers and Tiny Amp, all based around the core of Kill Laura drummer Matt and his brother Marty - one time member of scouse hardcore merchants DBH. I also found the time to electrocute myself plugging in my amplifier. Rock and roll!
Now I find myself alone with no band to rely on any more. Ahhhh.
Although this sound maybe a surprise to some of my err ‘fans’ – (mates, family members and random people in pubs), it’s just my songs without the amps turned up to eleven.
Over the last few months I’ve recorded at home while fending off the cat, looking after my new baby and practicing my double dragon death punch. I might even get back up in front of crowds (ahem) and play some of this stuff….
