Jonathan Vassar is a singer-songwriter based in Richmond, VA.
He is currently signed with the independent label: Triple Stamp Records
As a songwriter, Vassar seamlessly shifts between pastoral impressionism and urban romanticism,
weaving lyrics into both poignant narratives and visionary tableaux.
Vassar's band, The Speckled Bird, uses delicate melody and vocal harmony to create rich and compelling sounds of acoustic and electric clarity.
We're trying to build up our networking of bands that play more experimental, less mainstream music, in the hopes of getting some shows and hopefully making friends along the way. If you ever need an opener for a show, please keep us in mind!
Sounds great! I'll try to make it out to the release show for sure. Probably by then I'll have the single done and ready.
I would love to be apart of the listening room idea. It sounds like such a great way to spread and introduce music. Believe it or not, I just turned 19 so the drinking won't really be an issue, haha.
Sounds great! I'll definitely be getting myself a copy! Did you record it on your own? Are you going through Triple Stamp?
Our record will probably have a release date of late November or early December. I'm almost done with all primary production. After that its mixing, mastering, blah blah blah. But I'm really excited about it. It definitely makes a giant leap from bedroom recordings to finely tuned production. I was able to lug a bunch of equipment into a huge church and find a great spot where I recorded almost the whole thing. Between the towering ceilings and stone walls we got ridiculous natural reverb.
Either way, we'll probably be adding a ton of shows soon to garner buzz for the release. Hopefully we'll be able to set up a date together!
Four more little sonic gems for your August pleasure are now available on the site. Blitzen Trapper, Boulder Acoustic Society, Jay Brannan and The Wiyos. Yet another fine quartet even though we say so ourselves as picked them out.
Thanks for the friendship! If you’re not already hooked up for merch please consider us. You can check out our work on our profile or our website (www.rockwellmerch.com).
