BIO
Jon Horton has had over 10 years of live and studio drum performance, and over ten years of composition and recording experience. Through the years he has participated in live performances varying from musical theater to extreme metal. He has done underground tours in broken down vans, and world tours in nightliner buses. He has recorded demos on a 4-track in his bedroom, and albums in his studio. Despite his lack formal training, he has enjoyed a life-enriching career as a modern musician.
He immediately began to play with bands in live venues, and even won his way into a gig at City Stages when he was 17. At this time his passion for music was such that he started teaching himself guitar, bass, and piano for composition purposes. He also taught himself the ability to record these compositions through borrowed recording equipment. On his 18th birthday he received a keyboard workstation which further developed his arrangement, production and engineering skills. By the time he went to the University of Alabama, he was writing and arranging multitrack instrumental compositions and hitting the road, going on his first tour when he was 19.
Since then, Jon has participated in a number of bands encompassing many different musical genres. Some of his past musical projects include local projects Green Beret, Blip, Spread Eagle (an '80s hair metal cover band), and Scream Queen.
He was more recently a live drummer for internationally renowned industrial rock group Panzer AG, and is featured on several tracks of their latest Metropolis Records release, Your World Is Burning, as well as the track “Gateway” on the Accession Records Vol. 3 compilation.
His most notable recent endeavor is with international industrial sensation Combichrist. For the past two years he has played with Combichrist in venues all over the world, opening for K.M.F.D.M. on a US tour, and headlining European, Australian and North American tours.
He is the currently the drummer/producer for his wife Lauren Krothe, who is currently working on her full-length album in their home studio in Birmingham Alabama. Stay tuned to her page for updates on shows and album information.
Jon stays busy in his home studio and has been involved with and produced multiple projects ranging from hip-hop to metal.
