Jon Player plays in and leads several area and regional bands. Variety, Rock, Funk, Jazz bands and anything in between. From bass guitar work to vocals, he takes care of business. If live music is what you need, Jon has it.
Born and raised in Alabama, Jon grew up surrounded by music. With both parents being musicians, his father a 3rd generation musician, Jon didn't have much choice but to turn to music. Around age 12 He started playing guitar. Shortly there after he started entering and winning local radio talent competitions. In high school he was awarded Alabama all-state Jazz Band first Chair. He studied Music Theory for 2 years at a local campus on a performing Arts Scholarship while simultaneously playing all over the southeast on the weekends. Several years on the road full time have had him sharing the stage with artists like Government Mule, Sister Hazel, Michael W. Smith, Rick Pino, Eddie James, Misty Edwards, The Selah Project, and the late, great Maynard Ferguson. Jon's soulful vocals, polished hands, and strong sense of time make him a formidable presence on the stage or in the studio.
And one more thing, Jon is a total Jesus Freak

James Ryle about the Vision of the Sons of Thunder
"The Sons of Thunder is a prophetic promise from heaven about a day when an army of worshiping warriors would be released into the streets with an extraordinary anointing upon them in music and evangelism. Men and women who have been hidden with the Lord and marked by the penetrating power of His presence… men and woman who have true grace and gifting in music along with humility and selflessness in sharing Christ... who are fearless in their faith and faithful to the call."

Again the Ghost sped on, above the black and heaving sea -- on, on -- until, being far away, as he told Scrooge, from any shore, they lighted on a ship. They stood beside the helmsman at the wheel, the look-out in the bow, the officers who had the watch; dark, ghostly figures in their several stations; but every man among them hummed a Christmas tune, or had a Christmas thought, or spoke below his breath to his companion of some bygone Christmas Day, with homeward hopes belonging to it. And every man on board, waking or sleeping, good or bad, had had a kinder word for another on that day than on any day in the year; and had shared to some extent in its festivities; and had remembered those he cared for at a distance, and had known that they delighted to remember him. - Charles Dickens
