STRIKE ME DOWN is the kind of album you like to listen to when you’re having a deep conversation, or feeling contemplative. It is laced with soulful melodies that sway in and out of its poetic verses seamlessly. The simple chords are pure and reminiscent of such ‘barebones’ styles as Jack Johnson, with a distant echo of a sunny Caribbean island sound. The title track is one of the best, but songs like ‘Closer’, which pick up the pace in tempo and emotion, really tie the album together as a whole
...the album’s sound...retains the authenticity of Jon Curtis’ roots as a London busker. Emotive, raw, harmonic, and pop enough to be catchy, but different enough to be fresh, Strike Me Down...has enough layers to entice you back for more
