Jon Delerious - Biography -
Music has always been important to Jon, having learned to play drums as well as guitar at a very early age.
There was always a diverse range of music on in the house growing up. Despite first trying to experiment and
find his musical passion by playing in bands, Jons musical road has always led him back to the turntables. He
was first drawn into and influenced by classic late 80s hip hop, disco and the funk found within these genres.
Jon initially took interest in playing many different styles, but it wasnt until he uncovered house music that he
found his true passion for DJing and later, production as well.
As a D.J. Jon has played all across Canada as well as into the U.S.A. and Europe. Some of the cities he has
played include San Fransico, Seattle, Dallas, Austin, Munich, London (U.K.), Manchester (U.K.), Bilbao (Spain),
Madrid (Spain), Pamplona (Spain), Montpellier (France), Graz (Austria), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and Amsterdam amongst Others.
His music ranges from smoked out dubby house, down tempo to top-notch dance floor chuggers and has been
name checked from diverse artists like Gilles Peterson through to Laurent Garnier. His style proves to appeal to
a diverse and varied audience. Most recently Jon released his full length 'No Warning' which received acclaim in
such publications as XLR8R and play throughout the world, particularly charting strong in the US, UK, Canada,
France and Germany. Charts and support have also been seen from artists including Johnny Fiasco, George T,
H-Foundation, Red Snapper, Charles Webster and Ali B among others, as well as receiving radio play from the
BBC.
One thing is certain about Jon, he has carved out a place in D.J. booth and in the studio that is completely his
own.With over 14 years of DJing experience behind him, Jon Delerious continues to refine his skills as one of Canadas leading electronic musical innovators.

"The trick with deep house is to keep it focused on the dancefloor. Too much of the genre falls into a soporific funk, just one step to the left of easy listening. Not the tunes made by Calgary's Jon Delerious. Even on album opener "Glow", which luxurates in bass so deep it's off the gauge, you can still imagine it rocking a tiny sweatbox of a club in New York, Tokyo or London. Clubs where people get off on house music shot through with sex, soul and 6am moments. For that's what No Warning has in abundance - dubby beats, rinky dink acid lines and dis(co)lated voices floating in and out of the mix. Deep house for the dancefloor? Now there's an interesting concept."

"The label name implies a kind of cool. The artists surname a kind of desire state. But the title ‘No Warning’ is a falsehood. This boy has previous, be it with Nordic Trax, Exun or on Lee Burridge’s ‘Nu Breed 5’ for Global Underground. And so he continues with this his debut longplayer. The dubby deep deep house we’ve come to expect comes to the fore. This is for the music connoisseur, house for the subconscious. The title track with its Detroit spin, distant vocals and back to basic basslines is worth the ticket price alone. Then you have a further ten tracks to lose yourself in. This is hypnotic, horny stuff that needs no warnings. Delerious is good for ya. Full stop. 4/5"
