Rosemary Jones's Interests
General
Books, books, books -- actually I'm also fond of opera, baseball, live theater, museums, short walks on a beach with a good fish-and-chips stand, and all the other aspects of a metropolitan life. If I was a mouse, I'd be the city mouse.
Music
My day job is working for an opera company. But that doesn't mean I have any musical talent. I'm an enthusiastic listener and happy to applaud other's talents. I've got a little bit of everything in the CD rack.
Movies
Like books, I can't possibly list everything that I've seen, loved, and plan to see again. But let me recommend some great film series and theaters in Seattle if you get a chance to visit here: Seattle International Film Festival, Northwest Film Forum, Seattle Art Museum's summer film series, and Silent Movie Mondays at the Paramount. Some of my favorite movie houses in Seattle are the fabulous Cinerama, the cozy Harvard Exit, the well-painted Egyptian, the nifty Uptown, the nautical Admiral, and the little Seven Gables. All of the events and theaters listed just make you feel happy to be out of the rain and eating popcorn.
Television
Almost any series that the Sci Fi channel floats, anything with vampires or super heroes, British productions like those on Mystery, and those Mythbusters on Discovery. When I can figure out the CNBC evening schedule, Jim Cramer's always fascinating Mad Money.
Books
Howling Delve, Depths of Madness, Stardeep. It's good to see how other people handle being underground and I'm enjoying how different everything in the Dungeons series seems to be. And just for fun: Realms of Dragons II. But if you want to see what I'm checking out from the library or hauling home from the bookstore this week, read the blog.
About me: I've been writing, publishing, or working around the book business for all of the 21st century.
My first novel is available from Wizards of the Coast: Crypt of the Moaning Diamond. It's a romp through an underground adventure with all the things that I loved playing in AD&D campaigns: kobolds, trap doors, weird magical treasures of dubious use, and lots of fireballs.
Due out in 2008 is the Encyclopedia of Collectible Childrens Books. This really huge book grew out of a series of books that I co-wrote with McClure Jones.
Currently, I'm the secretary of the board and blog lady for Book Publishers Northwest, a trade organization for small publishers located in Washington.
You're more than welcome, Rosemary. So glad to have you in my little circle. Drop in any time and kick on back. My door is always open and you are always welcome:)
I love YA too, btw. And, tidbit reveal, your floor sounds like the floor of my main character..LOL
Hi Rosemary - Thanks so much for your comment - and I'm thrilled that you picked up State of the Onion. Can't wait to hear what you think of it! Best always, Julie
Hi there, congratulations on getting a book out with Forgotten Realms, they really have a huge world and so many characters to read about, thanks for adding to these adventures.
Thanks for the add. Have a great holiday, and best of luck on the new book! I learned last year that November's a great time to have a book come out ... you get an extra boost from all of the Christmas shopping :-)
Here's wishing you a wonderful 2008 as well! All the best for we Young Dragons in the year to come and beyond, until we're Old Wyrms with worlds of our own, heh!
