   About Jones
Songs of faded postmarks and Lowell George postcards. Of dreams of Kerouac and Brautigan and old John Muir. Of light falling on a girl like the sun shone just for her... These are songs which take you from rain dirty Glasgow streets through California, Iona, the islands and London's handpainted skies. Jones are a soulful acoustic band formed by Glasgow singer-songwriter Mark McLaughlin, guitarist James Byron and double-bass player Pete Rawlings. They are already gaining many plaudits on the London live scene having supported James Grant, Teddy Thompson, Boo Hewerdine, Peter Bruntnell and Michael Weston King amongst others. Soulful vocals, sweet harmonies, warm intricate guitars and bass combine with accordion, mandolin, piano, cello and fiddle to produce crafted narrative songs which evoke thoughts of the classic and contemporary - Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Kelly Joe Phelps and Patty Griffin. Jones are recording their debut CD for release in 2009. For more info contact jonesbandinfo@yahoo.co.uk

Yes, it's that time of the month again when your listening pleasure can be enhanced by heading off to the AUK Myspace site where you will find folk whimsy from The Travelling Band, poignant thoughfulness from Waylon Jennings, The Butless Chaps (don't you just want to know what they sound like?) and the sweetly swinging (and singing) Tish Hinojosa.

Hey! Hope you are doing good. I wanted to let you know about a show i'm doing in London on Sunday, June 1st. I'm touring with Tommy Allsup. He played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is the guy playing on songs like "Heartbeat", "It's So Easy", etc, etc.....he is 76 and still going strong. He is a character. Anyway, i would love to see you at the show. I think as a fellow musician that you will really appreciate seeing Tommy play, and listening to his stories! He is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. If you want to see Tommy in action....check out my blog. There is a video from last week in Nashville from the studio. Take care, the music is sounding great, and i hope to see you soon! Sincerely, Kevin Montgomery http://www. kevinmontgomery. fanbridge. com

Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens.....would love to see you at a show? I figured with you being a musician you could appreciate this show. We play the Half Moon Putney. I hope you can come down? Take care! DW

the redbricks

Nov 26 2007 3:10 PM

hi y'all.. got two last redbricks nights in november before the winter kicks in for real so try one of these out for one last look above ground before the hibernation begins... our weekly monday run at the cedar room continues tonight with another impressive FREE line up that runs, 10.00 my summer as a a salvation soldier 9.15 dan clews 8.30 mary hepworth lee gorton and friends will be playing records with the usual fine blend of fucked up folk and mellow psychedelia. on thursday november 29th we've got our flagship 'down at the redbricks' night which has now established itself on the english maid, a boat on the thames, pretty much opposite the houses of parliament. the venue's amazing and these gigs always feature our toughest redbricks line ups and this one's no different.. the moon music orchestra the burning leaves adam beattie colorama it's a fiver on the door, which is still a snip, but if you send us an email to theredbricks@hotmail.co.uk we'll put you and your friends on the £3.00 guest list. hopefully see y'all soon.. x

Oct 18 2007 5:20 PM

howdy, here's what's coming up in the next month folks.. got the redbricks festival of folk on this sunday, 21st, at the amersham arms in new cross. the line up's changed a little as findlay brown has broke his leg, but i think the likes of pete molinari, the superimposers, john stammers, emma tricca, pete greenwood, luca and ain make for a pretty great FREE day out. starts abround 4, i heard a rumour about half price roasts too but don't quote me on it... got this lot on for ya too.. the big bertha gig on the boat is a fiver but gimma shout if you want to get on the £3 guestlist. cheers, the redbricks.. x
