Nebraska-era Springsteen, Beck and Johnny Cash having a guitar pull at Armadillo World Headquarters.
"Itkin deftly swings, trucks and soothes. He's far from the first singer-songwriter/roots-rocker whose songs pray to Neil Young, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and Jay Farrar. Not all prayers are answered with such promise."
-Rick Cornell, No Depression
"...richly detailed roots-rock songs, the kind that hit their mark both with a full band and when stripped down for a solo show."
Country Standard Time
“…one of the finest alt.country discs to emerge in 2007. You'd swear Portland, Oregon wunderkind Jon Itkin is decades older than his twenty-four years…”
“Cut from varying parts Guthrie, Cash and Marty Robbins…”
-The Spokane Inlander
“The warm baritone [Jon] showcases on his latest CD…has an unpolished quality that works wonders for his confessional lyrics, giving them an even richer sense of honesty.”
-The Oregonian
“…his songs arrive without an expiration date…his agility with language shines…”
-The Eugene Register-Guard
“Every rockin' track on Gold Guitar really is pure gold; soulfully executed, lyrically stunning and punctuated with just the right amount of instrumental flair.”
-The Eugene Weekly
“…as lonesome and big sky beautiful as a McMurtry novel.”
-City Paper –Rochester, NY
“Combining the working-class vocabulary of Bruce Springsteen and the troubadour’s twang of Townes Van Zandt.”

Hi Jon. Thanks for adding me as a friend, and I look forward to hearing more of your music - and updates! I didn't see "Oregon" listed in MySpace Music. Hopefully you'll have that added at some point.

Jon,thanks for your friendship. I dig your songs and your smooth voice. Hey, if you like Lucinda Williams, you're probably going to like Rosy Nolan. Would you please come check me out and leave a comment?

Thanks very much for friendship... I like this opportunity to shared our works... The Life of a man is made up of a series of dreams which write our history, as well as our children, who then start to write their own. I decided to continue writing mine as soon as I began to dream in early childhood. One doesn't need to stop the journey along the way. It is necessary to believe that the stars which light our way will never go out, and to continue to follow our dreams which inspire us in the most beautiful moments of our lives. If not, why is my star helping me to write so many fine melodies? I composed a suite for my dream, called " Melody for an Oscar", and I am convinced that one day someone will help me to reach for that Oscar in Hollywood, which I have always imagined in my dreams. No matter what, my dreams have enhanced my musical creativity, and for that I am thankful. Warmest regards,
Really fine songs you have,John. Our kinda thing.Always great to have another friend from the Beaver state..we have quite a large collection of you Oregon guys!
