Bio
..JON LOOMES .. sings and plays a dozen or so instruments. He breaths fire, writes sonnets, paints in the style of Botticelli and makes violins. He doesn't like to blow his own trumpet (actually, it's a cornet) but he's aware that everyone says he is too self-deprecating, a failing that he is struggling hard to put right. Handsome, charming, witty and modest, Jon Loomes is beautifully constructed from English fine bone china and is lavishly adorned with 22 carrat gold. He comes fully equipped with heated seats, sat nav and electric windows, on the road from just £200,000. Send no money now. ....Jon runs a recording studio specialising in acoustic music. He's also in charge of the Melodeon, Concertina and Violin departments at The Music Room in Cleckheaton. .. ..Jon performs solo, plays in a duo with the very delicious and fragrant Mr. ..Paul Scourfield.. (squeezeboxer extraordinaire), is part of Paul's legendary English Ceilidh outfit ..The Mad River Band.. and is currently grinding his hurdy gurdy for the incredibly strange and unbelievably french trio ..Hérétique... He was a founder member of the Notorious folk/punk act ..Whorticulture.. for which he apologises profusely. He was also a member of one of ..Spiers and Boden..'s unsuccessful side projects. Apparently ..Jim Moray.. has done a "cover version" of one of his songs, although given that everything Jon does is trad. arr... it's a little bit silly to say that. .. .. TODAY'S NEWS: THE BROTHERS DROHNE .. (Jon Loomes and The inimitable Philip G Martin) will be playing this coming Monday at the Tower of London, opening for ..The Good, The Bad & The Queen. .. Jon has absolutely no idea what's going on, but it all sounds very exciting. .... Contrary to popular belief, it would appear that Jon Loomes IS indestructable after all. ...... ....NOW THIS IS JUST PLAIN WEIRD - THERE'S SOME MAD STUFF ON THE NET!.. ........ .. If I was one of these celebrities I'd be quite upset at being told I looked like a man. Still, it's nice to know I have something else in common with Eva Herzigova - To be quite honest, I've no idea who half of these people are. Then again, I'm not too sure who the one in the middle is either. .. -

Hello,How do you do?
Hi,how are you?
It's Monday today, I think it's a new begi
Poem cum song 5 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my Blog for details):
STATE TO STATE
(TUNE:
C F G F

C F G F
C F G F
F G F C
F G F C

C F F F)
From Sydney Town,
In uni. break,
I drove out west
To earnings make
Onion picking,
On the fields
Of Echuca,
That year’s yields.
After day’s work,
From Y.H.A.,
A group of us
Would not delay
To walk on down
To the dirt rim
Of the Murray,
For a cool swim.
On one such day,
I do declare,
Some three of us
Had a big dare
To swim across,
From state to state,
The wide Murray -
I took the bait.
Yes, foolishly,
I took the bait -
A choice that I
Would come to hate,
For I almost
Did drown that date,
Making the swim
From state to state.
