These songs were recorded a number of years ago with a first generation 4 track recorder in my living room. Despite the less then stuller audio quality, Jon's voice comes through strong and his songs shine.
Different players who loved Jon and were touched by him would drop by and add their parts: Woody Mitchell, Lenny Federal, Michael & Michelle Styers, Bill Walpole Tom Quick and others.
I have a few more of Jon's songs I will add from time to time.
hi there, i grew up knowing john in the 70s and 80s.he was friends with another awesome musician tim mace(my daddy)...ive been gone from the charlotte area about 20 years now,i remember dave too...sorry for the loss of a friend.my full name now is michelle mace gilmore
I knew Jon back in the 80's when I used to hang out at the double door!! Good times. His step son Charlie is a very dear friend of mine. I also knew Helen. Great people.
Uncle Jon was a awesome guy. I have vivid memories of Booger Holler as a child I do always remember him playing the guitar. Don't recall any of the music from my childhood and find this space very special. He was a unique guy and will be truly missed! I am Helen's sisters daughter! Whom ever made this space thanks for sharing the music and photos here!
Jon was a rare individual, the only person who's ever talked me into jumping off a roof. working with him both on and off the stage was always fun, and it's a pure pleasure to hear his voice again. thanx Davey!
John & Helen Mullis and children Jody & Shannon & Jeremy/Dangerman and Walter, Uncle George, Granny and Roddie the dog that ended up in a freezer …
It all happened at BOOGER HOLLER, NC.
Circa 1969.
That’s where it all focused (hippie music and love) & started in Charlotte NC.
I forget the details.
Wouldn’t mind hearing them.
