About me: I'm a musician with a love of alternative rock, 80's pop, and acoustic music, and my playing is a confusing and blinding amalgam of all three. I also love to write, and have started to do some blogging recently on here. I'm writing to try to find my voice, and working on a personal style. My writing is about my life as a surgeon, and about life in general.
I'm also an Assistant Professor in Department of Otolaryngology & Communication Sciences (ENT specialist) at the Medical College of Wisconsin, with an interest in head and neck cancer research and voice pathology, and I an academic physician scientist laryngologist specializing in voice disorders and cancer. Yes, I've really gone to all of those schools over there on the left side...
All I know is this: I work way too much, but I love what I do.
Here's a couple videos from my YouTube page (www.youtube.com/jonniebock) from some of my recent performances here in Iowa City:
My cover of the Black Keys' tune "Your Touch"
May, 2007 show - acoustic version of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Testify"
My blues version of Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend"
Original tune - "Wait Until Your Daddy Comes Home"
My version of the old blues tune "Let me love you, baby", but this time with a little Kanye West thrown in.
I'm always looking to meet other musicians, especially in the Eastern Iowa area. People who are smart. People who can "throw back the ball", as one of my friends once said. People who love to write, who have something to say. People who love science, literature, music, cooking, kids & family, or medical research. Any old classmates or friends, I'd love to hear from you. I also really like cool people, so if you're cool, then we can talk. Aw yeah, baby.
