Jonny d'Pedalo were formed in Wakefield, Yorkshire, in the late summer of 2008 by Sam Greenwood (lead guitar and backing vocal) and John Rigby (rhythm guitar and bass) after the two were introduced by a mutual friend, Christian Vessey (lead vocal) at Glastonbury Festival. Having found that they both shared inspiration from bands such as The Smiths, Squeeze, The Clash, The Cure and The Libertines, Sam and John thought they should organise a session to try out their own ideas. Bringing friends Pete Cummings (bass and rhythm guitar) and Matt Slee (drums) on board helped shape their ideas into a real sound, but it wasn’t until Christian joined the lads that the band really began to take shape.
Now, with their upbeat melodies and quirky lyrics the lads soon found themselves practicing whenever possible. Jonny d’Pedalo hit the local music scene with force.
The band rapidly gained recognition on both a local and national scale, with support slots for Skint & Demoralised, General Fiasco and The Wallbirds helping them bring their music to an eager audience. Through their gigging and posting of demo material on the internet the lads have already begun to build a cult following. Giving out free demo CD’s to their audiences and fans online only proved to encourage peer-to-peer file-sharing, thus spreading their name and music further. With their cheeky banter and tales of beaten up drummers, nights out, and of course, girls, the band seems to have found a winning formula.
Jonny d’Pedalo had their first radio play on the 6music ‘BBC Introducing show’, with Tom Robinson stating that “their song writing is very strong and their vocalist is a star in the making”. A number of other radio plays soon followed on local radio stations, with the band being described as “absolutely brilliant” when featured as ‘Demo of the Week’ on The Sound of Yorkshire.
The band is not yet signed but have been featured on the ‘This Merrie City II’ compilation, alongside some of the best artists from the city of Wakefield. Free downloads of demo materials can be downloaded below.

This should be easier than the previous savefile as I've been told there were alot of pop ups.
06/07/09 It was the release of the 'This Merrie City II' (Louder Than Bombs Records) compilation CD today and we are one of the featured artists along with a whole host of talent from the City.

07/02/09 The kind people of 'The Sound of Yorkshire' radio show on Yorkshire Radio have chosen us as their 'Demo of the Week'. They played I.L.B. and said it was 'absolutely brilliant'.
17/12/08 Hello, we've just finished recording another 3 songs and put them up on here for you to listen to. We recorded with Superman again so you know that they're going to be good. There are stories of our drummer being beaten to a bloody mess, boys antics on nights out and one about an obsessive female who was in love with a friend of ours.
1/12/08 Just over a month after recording our first songs we've recieved our first bit of radio airplay on 'Tom Robinson Introducing' on BBC Radio 6. He had these nice words to say about us; ''...there songwriting is very strong and there vocalist, Jonny, is a star in the making.''
27/10/08 We've uploaded our first three songs that we recorded with Superman at a top secret location, let us know what you think of them. We've also booked a number of gigs (4 so far) before the end of the year and we're heading back into the studio in December to record three more songs for your aural pleasure. Hopefully we'll be going into the studio next month too though nothing's been confirmed yet.
