    Jonny Nexus's Interests
GeneralWriting, reading, gaming... stuff.
MusicSome time in the early 90s I came to the conclusion that modern music was nothing more than some Belgian kid shouting "techno, techno, techno" over three and a half minutes of someone else's record and, occasional decent guitar band aside, I haven't heard much since that enthuses me.

I used to like electronic music like Kraftwerk and OMD, back when electronic music was a techie geeky thing. Then it started being about all the things I'm not in to: fun, clubs, drugs, dancing... did I mention fun?

I quite like the Beatles. Does than help?
MoviesI love the Star Wars trilogy. I have heard whack-jobs saying that George Lucas filmed three more films ("prequels" they call them) that totally trashed the entire thing, turning the force into a virus, Luke & Leia's mum into a paedophile, and the ultimate showdown between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan into an unfortunate misunderstanding about the role of the high ground in personal combat.

But I don't believe such things. I don't want to believe such things. And if you try to tell me it happened, be warned: I will treat you with the same scorn I reserve for holocaust deniers, 911 conspiracy theorists, and those who believe the moon-landings were staged.

I thought Bladerunner was pretty good, and I actually thought the film noir voice-over was pretty good. Sorry.

I didn't watch the recent film of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy for fear that I'd end up being dragged out of the cinema by the security staff shouting "Blasphemy!"
TelevisionWell for starters, I don't watch Coronation Street so don't bother trying to talk to me about Sarah and Jason's marriage, what impact the return of Jamie will have on Violet and Sean's baby, or whether or not I think Kevin is wise or oblivious given his wife and daughter's behaviour - because I won't have a clue what you're talking about.

As to what I do watch, I loved Life on Mars.
BooksI generally say that The Hitch Hikers Guide To the Galaxy is my all-time favourite book, but thinking about it, that might not be true - I think the sequel, The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe, might be even better.

Let's just say that if I could write books half as good as those Douglas Adams wrote, I'd be a very happy man - and probably quite a rich one too!
HeroesWell, I did start a religion about James Wallis...

   Jonny Nexus's Blurbs
About me:
I'm a humour writer in the fields of fantasy, SF and gaming. I first become known to people other than my friends and family as the editor and chief-writer of the gaming webzine Critical Miss, the magazine for dysfunctional roleplayers.

I later wrote the Slayers Guide to Games Masters for Mongoose Publishing before moving on to write a monthly column for their magazine Signs & Portents. I've also written a monthly column for the magazine Valkyrie.

My debut novel Game Night, the tale of six dysfunctional gods and their equally dysfunctional game, is about to be published by Magnum Opus Press.
Who I'd like to meet:
Well I would say Douglas Adams, but given that he's dead it would involve a drastic and very permanent change of lifestyle.

I saw that you like OMD! Wow we have a lot in common, that album was probably the last one from the 80's that I got my bestfriend for her B-day.

Thanks for the accept! I saw from the advert. on the myspace that you write in the likes of Terry Prachett, if that's the case I need to read your books! I read your profile, and you are not alone on the Star Wars Geek of the Month Club, I'm a member too! And whomever told you about the prequels, needs to back away from their crackpipe, cause their ideas are so wrong! Do you read any other authors? I'd like to suggest David Sedaris and his book "Me Talk Pretty Someday." this gathering of short stories of his life and my literally laughing out loud!(this would usually happen when I was on my lunch and I always got caught by someone walking by the breakroom, looking at me as if I had too may screws loose) Well I've taken up enough space.
