   About JON PHIPPS (composer)
At the moment i am mostly focusing on writing modern classical music for my masters degree in music composition at Colchester Institute in the UK, where i also did my BA (hons) in music. I'm not a classical musician at heart though: I came into modern classical music from an electric guitar background. I used to be in a band that combined elements of modern classical and jazz with progressive metal but at the moment i haven't got time to work on that stuff. When i have a break from academia in the summer i will try to get a new band together. At the moment i am playing double bass and electric bass in a jazz fusion band which is great fun. Alot of the recordings on here are just ruff sketches and mostly synth-generated, but i will be getting some more recent compositions performed and recorded in the near future. If anyone would like to work with me on a project i would be keen to collaborate :)

Wow, I listened to it all the way through twice and i'm really impressed with the composition man!
I really like how you've made the sections flow and it would sound amazing with a band.
A great eclectic mix of all your influences, well done!

I'm alright thanks, keeping busy with the arty stoof. It's a nice feeling to be able to do the work you want to do rather than having to do something to pass a module, at least you have a few weeks to do that ;o)
Trying to find a few minutes to update and add new pics to my page at some point...it will be done eventually! :o)

just stupid confusing girl stuff, and playing later that evening at an open jam and listening back to it later and realising how out of tune i sounded!! i was playing with a guitarist and drummer and could barely hear myself, it was so bad! i was hoping it was gonna be really good cos i was doing 2 newbies that u english hadn't heard yet.

i bought a yamaha electro acoustic guitar, 2nd hand, but i played it in the shop and it felf absolutely beautiful. it was only $180 (about 95squid), but now i'm poor!
